SNG Community Resource Fair
The LWPTSA Council Special Needs Group will be hosting its annual Community Resource Fair on Tuesday, February 20th at 7 pm  at the Lake Washington Resource Center (LWRC) in Redmond. This year's event will join together with the Bellevue School District, ensuring lots of programs represented. This is a great opportunity for all parents and caregivers of kids that are receiving any support services to come and learn about camps and programs available to them. While several vendors are summer-camp oriented, there are many with great programs available year round.  Children welcome. WSPTA Student Essay Contest: Men Making a Difference

Community Emergency Response Team Certification & Community Service Opportunity
The Sammamish Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is taking registrations for certification classes that teach about community emergencies, including disaster preparedness, fire safety, and light search-and-rescue.   The Sammamish CERT program begins in March and runs for 8 weeks at Sammamish Fire Station 82.  Classes are 2½ hours each Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm for a total of 20 hours.  Teachers can apply for 20 clock hours, and students can receive 20 community service hours. Help Feed Eastlake with the Pantry Packs Holiday Hunger Campaign
With a goal to raise enough money to fully fund Pantry Packs throughout the LWSD  for the rest of the school year, Pantry Packs is holding its very first Holiday Hunger Campaign from Dec. 4 through Dec. 17.   Eastlake's goal is $2,102 ; this goal is based on our projected number of students that will need weekend food, how many dollars it takes to supply the packs to those students, and funds from previous fundraisers that have already been credited to Eastlake. The Supreme Court order on the McCleary case did three things: (1) It unanimously rejected the State’s claim that the 2017 legislature satisfied the court orders in the McCleary case; it unanimously rejected the State’s claim that lawmakers cured their ongoing contempt of court; it unanimously rejected the State’s claim that sanctions should be lifted; and it unanimously rejected the State’s claim that the Court should relinquish jurisdiction and terminate the McCleary case.  (2) It unanimously ordered the State to provide the additional $1 billion of salary funding that the State, by its own admission, acknowledged would be required to fully fund ... read full article

WSPTA Game Development Competition
The WSPTA Game Development Competition is a STEM-based program introduced just last year.  Students in grades 9-12 attending a school with a PTSA in good standing (yes, that's Eastlake) may participate and share their knowledge of computer science based on an assigned theme (see below).  The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students -- individually or in a team up to six members -- to use their creative talents and express themselves by developing a computer game.  Students’ submissions are judged in the following areas: game of the year, arts and animation, game design, programming (code), and audio design.
